We all are
avid users of copyrighted materials such as music, film, books,
magazines, art and photographs, but most of us have little or no
understanding about how or why these works are protected.
Many
students, including you, create works that enjoy copyright
protection (even though you probably never have applied for copyright
protection) including music, poetry, photography, artwork, and even
websites.
For more information on copyright go to the United States Copyright Office Or eFuse.com both of these sites are full of helpful relevant information on copyright issues.
Definitions

to the provision in the Copyright Act that permits unauthorized but
limited use of a copyrighted work in certain situations that advance
the public benefit (e.g., research, criticism, news reporting, and
teaching).
Intellectual Property
Consists
of two main branches: industrial property (e.g., patents, inventions,
trademarks, industrial designs,) and copyright (e.g., literary,
musical, artistic, photographic and audiovisual works).
